Turkish Stock Exchange Opens Midweek Higher

(MENAFN) Türkiye's flagship equity index climbed into midweek trading at 13,964.03 points, advancing 0.61%—equivalent to an 88.71-point gain—from Tuesday's session close.

The BIST 100 had surged 1.87% on Tuesday to finish at 13,875.32 points, securing an unprecedented record closing level. Daily trading volume reached 249 billion Turkish liras, translating to approximately $5.72 billion in transactions.

Currency markets displayed notable movements by 10.00 am local time (0700GMT). The Turkish lira traded at 43.5095 against the US dollar, while the euro commanded 51.5160 liras and the British pound fetched 59.7130 liras.

Commodity markets remained active as gold priced at $5,081.60 per ounce. Meanwhile, Brent crude oil changed hands at $67.60 per barrel, reflecting ongoing energy market dynamics amid global economic fluctuations.

The sustained momentum in Turkish equities signals growing investor confidence, despite currency pressures and broader regional economic headwinds affecting emerging markets.
